At 24 miles long, Canim Lake is the largest lake in the Cariboo. Surrounded by rolling hills and majestic mountains, the Canim Lake area is the perfect natural sanctuary with multitudinous trails for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and more. The area has an abundant historic and cultural background and is home to the People of the Canim Lake Band, or the Tsq'escenemc, as they are known in their native language, Secwepemcstin, or Shuswap. The Band's vision is to be "A politically and financially independent, healthy community, rich in Shuswap tradition and culture."
